Romualdas Granauskas was a popular Lithuanian contemporary writer who published over 30 books in his lifetime. He was born in 1939 in Mažeikiai, Lithuania and drew from his childhood experiences in small villages of the Samogitian region as inspiration for his works. Some of his most famous works include the novella "Life under the Maple Tree" from 1988, which brought him national attention, and the 1975 novella "Sacrifice of a Bull".
