This document defines and provides examples of common literary devices including simile, foreshadowing, rhyme, repetition, oxymoron, metaphor, and implied metaphor. It explains that similes draw comparisons between two unlike things, foreshadowing hints at future events, rhyme involves matching ending sounds of words, and repetition emphasizes words. Oxymorons combine opposites, and metaphors and implied metaphors involve implicit comparisons between objects. Examples of each device are given.
