Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

List of Project Giuseppe Taraschi
To help understand my ability as a project manger leader I thought it best to describe my role and
my achievements at Plalam (my last company) in more detail.
About 16 years ago the decision to make an adjustment to the HW technology was made
and the new AS400 was bought (the company had the old S36 IBM system) it was also
decided to adapt the SW (standard) to take advantage of the features of the new machine.
In the first person together with the management we developed a SW logistics within the
company to use my ability to respond better to the PM compared to a standard business
needs while accounting for it remained with ACG IBM. I'd strongly evaluated this thesis
considering it essential that the knowledge of the company's computer system had an
internal resource in the long run which would have greatly reduced the costs of
adjustments over the years. Furthermore, since the computer system is the hub for all
companies it makes sense that the knowledge of it is a corporate asset. From the first draft
it lasted about two years and there have been significant adjustments in the most
important (used method SDLC System Development Life Cycle)
- Century change
− monetary system (from the Lira to the Euro)
− warehouse management using bar codes
− changeover to the interface WEB(Jawa)

Now here is a summary of this SW Logistics (ERP similar SAP to the more famous today
which consists of nearly 2,000 pgm). During the analysis phase which lasted about a year I
was often in contact with users both in the office and factory to craete business processes
to create a management system which would respond better to the business needs and at
the same time reduce their production costs with clear benefits to the company. The
structure of the SW was divided in the following modules:
Logistics software programs(ERP plalam spa)
− project duration 2 years
− implementation in January 1996
− substantial demand-based training users to use new procedures
− financial budget up 900,000,000 lire
1)Stock based
- Tables (data base). The tables show baseline data is produced (line speed, performance
coatings, specific gravity metal) and amount (subject, value finished products). Weeks of
the year to allow the calculation of the dates for customer orders and suppliers
- Stock code customers (customer number univocal 6 digits)
- Suppliers Records(suppliers unique number code remunerated 6 characters)
- Article Records (univocal code numbers along 11) raw materials, semi-finished products.
This file also lists the elements for the explosion of the BOM in the production
phase
- Register of raw materials (unique number: year / progressive)
- Register of semi-finished and finished products (unique number: year/progressive)
2) Active cycle (customer orders)
- the management of customer pre-orders
- managing customer orders: approval by the manager, pre-order sales order is
passed and an indication of possible delivery date is calculated (the system
automatically schedules the dates according to the orders and the upstream speed
of production)
- Checks and lists upstream order: by date, article and customers
-utility for managing customer orders: move the delivery date, change the line
-the dates are expressed in weeks of the year (production the week prior to to
delivery
3) Passive cycle (Suppliers orders)
- order management suppliers: suppliers and orders of raw materials for the

production of consumables
- Check and list orders: by item, date, supplier
- Programs to allow the issue of scheduled orders to suppliers based on the dates
of production, orders and customers
- recording vendor invoices
- feedback with supplier invoice entry and use of raw materials in warehouse
4) The raw material warehouse
- querying lists and raw materials within the individual stores the raw materials
identified by the number recorded
- management of raw materials for movement between the storage and eventual
specific exchange
- Load warehouse with raw material coming from the supplier and issue stock entry
5) semi-finished and finished products warehouse
- lists inquiry and semi-finished and finished goods: in individual stores, raw
materials identified by the number recorded
- management of semi-finished and finished products: to move between the
stores and any specific exchange
6) Managing production line
- commitment to customer orders in line with creating the production plan
(production batches)
pick-raw materials for production (made by operators on line)
- payment of semi-finished or finished products in stock
- monitor the progress of production in real-time
7) Billing and Invoice
- issue the customer with statement of removal from the finished product warehouse
- invoicing client according to the statement and the prices of its sales order

Century Change
− project duration 9 months
− Implementation 01/01/2000
− positive feedback during implementation
− financial budget up 500,000,000 Lire
Draft only major technical changes in all fields for the year from 2 to 4 characters.
Changed:
− records
− video
− prints
− fields to search by date
The analysis was made only from the technical point of view without the investigation
stage from users.

Currency Monetary System (from the Lira to Euro)
− project duration 12 months
− Implementation 01/01/2002
− positive feedback during implementation
− financial budget up 600,000,000 Lire
Project both financial and technical
From the financial point of view it was necessary to transform the lire to euro conversion −
commodity prices
− finished goods prices
− financial record statistics
From the technical point of view it was decided to leave the field in the records in Lira
and to enter the new Euro field with decimal (2 or 3 depending on the archives) and
enter a program for the calculation of the conversion.
The major difficulties encountered during implementation were not technical but the
need for change in the attitudes of users to manage the new currency.

Warehouse Management with Barcodes
− duration of the project 6 months
− progressive implementation 1997
− substantial demand-based training users to use new procedures
− financial budget up 200,000,000 lire (including acquisition detection tools)
Designed exclusively technical (as you choose COD39 code):
− creating labels with bar code printing recorded number
− creating programs for the printing of the card when loading raw materials and semi-
finished products
The procedure for collecting inventory of the materials was also carried out comprising of
the following steps:
−emission of files on mobile system bar code readers
− load information on system of data collected
− comparison between the records and physical collections
− correction of errors

Web Interface Step (Jawa)
- duration of the project 1 year (3 months of analysis for the modernization of SW)
− implementation in January 2008
− substantial demand-based training users to use the new interface
− financial budget € up 600,000
Through the program Caravel (drive made by IBM) RPG programs turned into Jawa (not
native) allowing the management of logistics programs through web interface (like a web
page).Improvements were made from the graphical point of view even though the
performance was a bit penalized by the structure of the Jawa code.
Meanwhile, the logic of the software has been enhanced to better meet business needs.
In the go live phase there were problems with the use of the new video interface and
errors generated by the conversion program.
