This document summarizes a research paper that proposes an improved Lion Optimization Algorithm (ILA) to solve the Team Orienteering Problem with Time Windows (TOPTW). The ILA enhances the standard Lion Optimization Algorithm (LA) by improving the process of generating a nomadic lion during territorial defense. Specifically, instead of randomly generating a nomadic lion, the ILA selects the strongest nomadic lion based on various criteria related to the TOPTW, such as time windows and location profits. The ILA is tested on standard benchmarks and shown to obtain competitive results compared to the LA and other state-of-the-art methods for solving the TOPTW.
