This document discusses dental caries and the management of patients at high risk for caries. It describes the restorative cycle where patients receive repeated restorations due to new caries forming next to existing restorations. Early detection of caries lesions and ongoing risk assessment of patients is important to help prevent disease progression and need for advanced treatment. Factors like diet, oral hygiene, fluoride exposure, and saliva influence caries risk. For high risk patients, treatment planning aims to continually reduce risk and monitor lesions.
There is a huge demand for dentists in India, as the dentist to population ratio is very low at only 1 dentist per 10,000 people. To become a dentist requires obtaining a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree after intermediate education focused on chemistry, physics, and biology. Dentistry involves maintaining oral health through diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of issues like gum disease. There are many specialty areas in dentistry that require additional training after the BDS. Choosing a career as a dentist provides benefits like financial security, flexibility, and personal satisfaction from improving patients' oral health and smiles.
1. Bullying can negatively impact children's self-esteem and mental health, and physical appearance such as teeth alignment is often a cause of bullying.
2. Research shows that early orthodontic treatment can significantly increase children's confidence levels after treatment by an orthodontist.
3. Parents often seek early orthodontic treatment for their children due to concerns about oral appearance and bullying, and orthodontists recommend treatment to improve dental health and alignment and prevent future issues.
Lect.3 treatment planning in operative dentistryAmeer Al-Ameedee
This document discusses various factors involved in treatment planning for operative dentistry cases. It emphasizes using an evidence-based, problem-oriented approach that considers the patient's needs and preferences. Key points include assessing caries risk to address the underlying disease, understanding the patient's objectives, and developing a phased treatment plan that improves oral health before definitive restorative treatment. The goal is to integrate scientific evidence, clinical expertise and the patient perspective to develop the most appropriate plan.
Group dental practices allow multiple dentists and specialists to work together in one office, sharing equipment, staff, and other resources. This arrangement provides several advantages for both patients and dentists. Patients benefit from access to a variety of dental services and expertise in one location. Dentists also gain experience from collaborating with colleagues and can share costs of common facilities. Effective teamwork is important for the success of group practices and dental health programs that bring different professionals together to provide comprehensive oral healthcare.
Evidence Based-Practice in prosthodontics involves making clinical decisions based on the best available scientific evidence, clinical expertise, and patient values and preferences. It has several key components including determining the clinical question, finding and appraising relevant evidence, and applying evidence to individual patients. Evidence based practice has advantages like enhancing treatment efficiency and outcomes, minimizing risks, and improving patient-provider collaboration. Relevant evidence can be accessed from sources like Cochrane Library, dental journals, textbooks, and clinical practice guidelines.

Practice News: Herbst Appliances for Patients who “Forget” to Wear Their Twin...Jonathan Alexander Abt
One of the biggest problems with removable functional appliances like Twin Blocks, is that patients may “forget”
to wear them and make no progress at all. To get around this problem, we now offer patients the option of a fixed Herbst appliance instead.
This document discusses the examination and diagnosis of complete denture patients. It emphasizes the importance of a thorough case history and physical examination. The case history should explore the patient's dental history, medical history, habits, expectations and mental attitude. The physical examination involves both extraoral and intraoral assessment including facial form, profile, symmetry, complexion and lip support. A systematic examination allows for an accurate diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment plan.
(1) The document discusses orthodontic treatment for adult patients. It notes that adults now comprise about 30% of orthodontic patients in the US.
(2) Adult patients are divided into two groups - younger adults under 35 who did not receive treatment as youths, and older adults over 40 who need orthodontics as part of larger dental treatment.
(3) Treating adult patients presents unique challenges as they are more likely to have medical issues, dental problems like caries and periodontitis requiring other treatments, and less tolerance for tooth movement due to lack of growth. Psychological considerations and desire for esthetic appliances also differ from child patients.
Diagnosis and treatment planning of Removable Partial Denture dwijk
This document discusses the process of examining a patient and developing a treatment plan for a removable partial denture. It covers organizing the initial examination, evaluating medical and dental history, performing diagnostic tests and impressions, and analyzing the data to formulate a treatment plan. The goal is to thoroughly understand the patient's condition and needs to develop a successful treatment.
Orthodontic referrals are important for general dentists to make. General dentists should encourage children aged 7-10 to join an orthodontic club and advocate for children under 10 with crossbites or underbites to see an orthodontist. Parents of children over 10 with crowding, spacing, rotations, or crossbites should also be informed to see an orthodontist. Performing orthodontics in a general practice is inefficient and expensive without having enough patients to consolidate care into dedicated time blocks each week. General dentists also should not start orthodontic cases unless their associate has an 18-month commitment to finish cases, otherwise they should refer patients to an orthodontist specialist.

This document summarizes a dental malpractice case lodged against Dr. M by a patient. It describes that Dr. M performed endodontic surgery on tooth #16 instead of #15, as indicated by Dr. F's x-ray. However, Dr. M did not take his own x-ray before surgery. The patient is requesting copies of their dental records and x-rays from the visit. In response, Dr. M's office provided 3 x-rays taken during and after surgery, but none before. They are questioning why Dr. M proceeded with surgery on tooth #16 without proper evidence. The case will be posted online by a facilitator.

Lifting the Corporate Veil. Power Point Presentationseri bangash
"Lifting the Corporate Veil" is a legal concept that refers to the judicial act of disregarding the separate legal personality of a corporation or limited liability company (LLC). Normally, a corporation is considered a legal entity separate from its shareholders or members, meaning that the personal assets of shareholders or members are protected from the liabilities of the corporation. However, there are certain situations where courts may decide to "pierce" or "lift" the corporate veil, holding shareholders or members personally liable for the debts or actions of the corporation.
Here are some common scenarios in which courts might lift the corporate veil:
Fraud or Illegality: If shareholders or members use the corporate structure to perpetrate fraud, evade legal obligations, or engage in illegal activities, courts may disregard the corporate entity and hold those individuals personally liable.
Undercapitalization: If a corporation is formed with insufficient capital to conduct its intended business and meet its foreseeable liabilities, and this lack of capitalization results in harm to creditors or other parties, courts may lift the corporate veil to hold shareholders or members liable.
Failure to Observe Corporate Formalities: Corporations and LLCs are required to observe certain formalities, such as holding regular meetings, maintaining separate financial records, and avoiding commingling of personal and corporate assets. If these formalities are not observed and the corporate structure is used as a mere façade, courts may disregard the corporate entity.
Alter Ego: If there is such a unity of interest and ownership between the corporation and its shareholders or members that the separate personalities of the corporation and the individuals no longer exist, courts may treat the corporation as the alter ego of its owners and hold them personally liable.
Group Enterprises: In some cases, where multiple corporations are closely related or form part of a single economic unit, courts may pierce the corporate veil to achieve equity, particularly if one corporation's actions harm creditors or other stakeholders and the corporate structure is being used to shield culpable parties from liability.
