Theory:
The ICL8038 is a function generator chip (diagram shown below), able of generating triangular, square,
sine, pulse and saw tooth waveforms. From these sinusoidal, square & triangular wave forms can be made
simultaneously. There is the option to control the parameters like frequency, duty cycle and distortion of
these functions.

The operation of IC8038 is based upon charging and discharging of a grounded capacitor whose charging
and discharging rates are controlled by current generators IA and IB respectively. This is the best function
generator circuit for a beginner to start with and is of course a must on the work bench of an electronics
hobbyist. The circuit here is designed to produce waveforms from 20Hz to 2o kHz. The ICL 8038 has to be
operated from a dual power supply.
Procedure:-
1. Make the connection as shown in fig..
2. Switch on the power supply.
3. Connect the CRO at output terminal of kit.
4. Observe the waveform on CRO.Vary the pot & get perfect sine wave.
5. Then note down the readings of this waveforms & draw on the graph paper.
