Trojan – Lighting Plans

The lighting for my opening scene will change throughout the opening scene. As the
scene begins, the lighting will be natural, as the opening scene will start with a wide
shot of the area. The sun will be out and it will be light, which reflects the happy and
pleasant mood in the scene. As the protagonist arrives home, the lighting is a lot
darker, as he has just arrived home and is exhausted from his day. You can still see
the light of the sun shining through the windows of his home, but it will be darker than
the wide shot. The lighting will change once again when the protagonist regains
consciousness, when he wakes up in the parallel universe after being shocked by his
computer. There is no lighting, apart from a key light used to highlight the computer,
which would make the audience think that the computer is the cause of the
protagonist’s unconsciousness. It would make the computer seem very mysterious to
the audience. I will also film this part of the opening scene at night, to give him the
impression that he is in a different place. It adds more to the realism and makes it
seem more believable.

This is the location for my film which
is my house. As you can see I will
use natural lighting in the sun for
this, as it will add a sense of realism
to the film and will resonate with
viewers as they might be able to
relate to the setting or the fact they
are coming home from a busy day.

Here you can see that the back
light and the fill light are not on.
This means the key light is
                                                           shining directly on the computer
and the focus is on the computer.
Because it will be the only light
on in the scene, it implies that the
computer is important and it will
make the viewer think why it is
                                                           important.
