Lesson (1)
Light
Grade
Five
Unit (1)
Energy
Objectives
1- Define the light
• 2-Define the visible spectrum
• 3-Classify sources of light
• 4.Properties of light
• 5.Explore light travels in straight lines
• 6.Explain how shadow is formed .
 1. Do you remember Energy ?
 - It is the ability to make things move or change
 2-Do you remember what is the sources of energy ?
 EX : Electric energy – sound energy – magnetic energy and Light energy .
 Hey there ! Its dark right ! What would we do without light ? !!
So lets talk about light and we will know why we need light !
LIGHT
-Light is one of the forms of energy
The light energy is the only source of energy that can
be seen
Light >> The source of energy that can be seen and
causes vision
The visible spectrum : It is the light energy which can be
seen
Sources of light
Natural
sources
Sun Stars
Artificial
sources
Electrical
lamps
Candles
Natural sources
Artificial Sources ( man-made )
G.V
1.The moon seems shiny . But it is not
considered a source of light .
Because moonlight is the reflection of the sunlight that
falls on its surface
Light travels in straight lines
Transmits through different
materials
Light reflection
Light refraction
Light separation
Properties of light
Light travels in straight lines
Phenomena that happen due to
light travel in a straight line :
1.Formation of an image through narrow holes
2. Formation of shadow
The image that formed is :
1. Minimized
2. Inverted
(The idea of making camera )
G.V
1. The image formed in pin-hole camera is inverted.
2. The formation of images through narrow holes.
Because light travels in straight lines
Evaluation
Complete :
1.The formation of image through narrow holes depends in
…………….
G.V the moon is not considered as source of light .
H.W
Do the activity that prove the formation of an image
through narrow holes and write your observation
