He was renowned for giving gifts and
according to Mahayana scriptures he
teaches about emptiness. Joined
because he was interested in Buddha’s
teachings.
Katyayana
He was very proficient in explaining
the Dharma. Joined because he was
interested in Buddha’s teachings.
Anuruddha
One of Buddha’s cousins. He was very
famous for having “divine visions” .
Joined after he heard one of Buddha’s
sermons and interested in learning
more alongside Upali and Ananda.
Upali
Once a barber, he later ordained and
became the master of Vinaya. Joined
because he found peace from
Buddha’s teachings alongside
Anuruddha and Ananda.

15. Rahula
The son of Buddha. He became the
first Samanera. Joined after Buddha
told him that his inheritance to
become the next king was wrought
with troubles.
Ananda
The other cousin of Buddha. He was
renowned for his retentive memory.
Most sutras of the Sutta Pitaka was
attributed to his recollection of
Buddha’s teaching during the first
Buddhist Council.

16. Travels and
Teachings- Remaining 45 years of his life, the Buddha is said to have
traveled in the Gangetic Plain, in what is now Uttar Pradesh,
Bihar, and southern Nepal, teaching a diverse range of
people: from nobles to servants, murderers and cannibals.

17. BUDDHA’S RETURN FROM
HEAVEN DAY
- Buddha returned from the desire god realm called Land of
the Thirty-three Heavens, where he had been to visit his
mother who had been reborn there.

18. parinirvana
- At the age of 80, the Buddha announced that he would soon
reach Parinirvana, or the final deathless state, and abandon his
