Liar Liar1997http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0DA75eOltA
Music The music begins setting a happy and peaceful tone which makes the audience believe the film is going to be nice and that there’s not going to be much bad in it. However when the plot begins to be told and the situation in the film changes the music becomes heavier and more of a rock genre to emphasise the change in the plot.
Stars Jim Carrey stars in the film and this draws in an audience because he has been successful in other comedy films such as The Mask and Dumb and Dumber. Therefore, the trailer features a lot of shots of him so the audience will be able to decide if the film is suited to them through his well-known type of comedy.
Plot Like in the trailer for Happy Gilmore, the plot is conveyed in the trailer by a voice over and it appears to be unrealistic and exaggerated. This makes it funnier because the audience know it would never happen in real life like it does in the film.
Editing The trailer uses a lot of fast action cuts and this allows a lot of features of the film to be shown in a short amount of time and also doesn’t let too much of the film be revealed so that it spoils it.
Questions Events in the Trailer Raise When the little boy says “he’s a liar” – leaves audience wondering why he would call his Dad a liar When the voice over says “Fletched Reid was climbing the ladder of success” – why is it being said in the past tense? What has changed? When the receptionist tells Carrey “your ex wife called” – leaves the audience wondering why they aren’t still married When the voice over says “also made him an unpredictable father” – what happened? Why is he being unpredictable? When Carrey is in bed with the woman – who is she?
