Eve Godfrey wrote, published, and sold a children's book as her senior project, donating the proceeds to the ASPCA. She created the book using BookSmart and sold copies to friends and family, raising enough money to support animal rescue. While coordinating with her illustrator and getting the book printed on time posed challenges, the biggest was formatting text and pictures correctly. Through overcoming these obstacles, she learned about her ability to complete difficult tasks. The project experience confirmed she wants to pursue a business career rather than writing.

Dear Judges:
Hello, my name is Eve Godfrey and I am a senior at Creekview High School. For my
senior project I wrote, published, and sold a children’s book and donated the proceeds to
the ASPCA. I chose this as my project because I wanted to find a way to support the
rescue of neglected animals. My goal was to raise enough money to make a difference.
For my product I created a children’s book with the program BookSmart and sold them to
friends and family. From there I then donated the proceeds to the ASPCA. My final
product related to my research because literacy is a big part of selling and distributing
children’s books. Without the ability to read, there would be no point in someone
purchasing my book. I overcame several different obstacles in the course of creating this
product. I had an issue coordinating with my illustrator and an issue getting the book out
to be printed in time. Overall, my biggest challenge in this project was formatting the
pictures and writing correctly in the book. I was able to successfully overcome each
challenge I was faced with, and ultimately learned a lot about myself and my ability to
overcome issues.
My topic of writing a children’s book and literacy, relates to the writing career. I learned
that I do not wish to be a writer or pursue a writing career, even as a hobby. The selling
aspect of this project helped me realize that I want to purse a business related career. I
plan to major in Business Administration at Berry College. The experience of completing
this project has helped me realize what I want to do with my life and how best I can
pursue my dreams.
The whole Senior Project experience has taught me self-discipline. I like the concept of
Senior Project because it has helped me learn more about myself and others. Thank you
