Mr. Michael Wilkerson
To Whom It May Concern,
Mr. Michael Wilkerson was employed at Vitreous and Retina Consultants, PA dba Center for Retina and
Macular Disease. He was initially hired in February, 2012 as director of human resources. When he was
initially hired, our medical practice employed 78 employees and we did not have a human resources
division. Mr. Wilkerson performed an admirable job of organizing a human resources program.
In addition to implementing common HR reporting functions he also organized our personnel files, instituted
a wage and salary matrix, and standardized HR functions within our different divisions. He was instrumental
in our organization being recognized as a “Best Places to Work” in 2012, 2013, and 2014. In 2015, we were
recognized as an Employer of Distinction. During 2014 and 2015, our practice experienced a 100%
employee retention rate as proof of his effectiveness.
In 2012, he led the effort to switch our employee health insurance coverage from a traditional insurance
plan to an employer sponsored “Self-Insurance” plan greatly reducing that expense to the practice. He has
led employer sponsored efforts to eliminate smoking amongst our employees as well as the promotion of
healthy life styles for all of our employees resulting in decreased health related expenses to the practice.
During his employment he continually proved that an effective director of HR can result in significant savings
to an organization. I would recommend Mr. Michael Wilkerson highly.
