On the day of the test, it suggests eating a healthy breakfast, getting enough sleep, and using various techniques like deep breathing or focusing on the present to manage test anxiety. The document also offers specific strategies for different exam formats, such as outlining or concept mapping notes for long-term studying and starting with easier questions on multiple-choice tests.
Listening is an important skill that allows one to focus and block out distractions. The subconscious does most of the listening by taking in available data but only making us aware of a small part. Listening can help with studying by allowing one to concentrate even in noisy environments by blocking out background sounds after a short period. When listening, the brain forms memories like using pins or tape to attach information to be remembered later. Specific repeating sounds used while listening, like animal noises, can help the subconscious form strong connections to recall information later by triggering memories of where that sound was previously heard.
New ways in teaching vocabulary was presented by Babich Tatiana from English Language Studio Moldova. The presentation discussed vocabulary and how it includes meaning, pronunciation, written form, collocations, connotations, and grammatical behavior. Techniques for teaching vocabulary were proposed, including brainstorming, using visual aids, mnemonic activities, concept sorting, and word games involving synonyms, antonyms, rhyming, riddles, and collocations. The presentation emphasized finding more effective ways for teachers to teach vocabulary.
This document provides information and strategies for dealing with test anxiety. It defines test anxiety as a feeling of fear and frustration caused by feeling threatened during an exam. Test anxiety can have internal causes like fear of embarrassment or failure, or external causes like poor study habits or time management. The document recommends three stages for coping with test anxiety: before the test through preparation and positive thinking; during the test using relaxation techniques; and after the test focusing on the future and getting help if needed. Managing test anxiety involves expecting it, preparing well, using breathing exercises, and knowing anxiety can be controlled.
This document discusses test anxiety in universities. It begins by defining testing and its importance in educational evaluation. Testing can provide useful feedback, but inaccurate tests can be harmful. The document then discusses different types of anxiety, including trait anxiety, state anxiety, and situation specific anxiety. It also discusses language anxiety and test anxiety specifically. Test anxiety refers to the physiological and psychological response to evaluations that causes negative feelings. The document lists several factors that can contribute to developing test anxiety, such as topical knowledge, language knowledge, personal traits, and affective schemata. Alleviating test anxiety can help improve access to education and career opportunities. The document provides several references used in discussing these topics related to testing and anxiety.

Nick is an English language teacher who has developed interactive tools called Grammar Organizers and a Grammar Cube to help students learn English grammar in a more engaging way. The tools use color-coding and interactive tables to highlight different grammar elements in texts and allow students to visualize and manipulate grammar structures. This helps students learn faster by seeing grammar as a cohesive system rather than isolated parts. The Grammar Cube projects student thinking and allows them to demonstrate a strong understanding of grammar structures. Nick believes these tools help bring grammar "alive" for students rather than teaching it as a dead subject.
