Play-Based Exploration (PBE) has become a trendy term in the oil and gas industry, championed by companies like ExxonMobil, Shell and BP.
PBE methods vary significantly; some firms create ‘traffic light’ maps of overall relative profitability, others partitioning probability into play/shared and local /prospect-specific probability with assigned values.
Play-based exploration reflect a shift in focus, as prospects are not the basic unit of exploration, but plays are.
Individual prospect probabilities are balanced and calibrated with the play maps, and prospect volumes are validated against the field size distribution (FSD) for the play.
Exploration evaluation experts use play-based exploration (PBE) to build a full understanding of the geological basins that should be explored and to reassess exploration strategies.

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

Unveiling the Secrets How Does Generative AI Work.pdfSam H
At its core, generative artificial intelligence relies on the concept of generative models, which serve as engines that churn out entirely new data resembling their training data. It is like a sculptor who has studied so many forms found in nature and then uses this knowledge to create sculptures from his imagination that have never been seen before anywhere else. If taken to cyberspace, gans work almost the same way.

6. Let’s drill a well… in 6 minutes.
How EXACTLY does Blackstone help your team?
7. Here we see our standard vertical log format.
(All details can be customized as requested)
Working from Left to Right:
ROP and Gamma are paired for easy correlation.
Tops are bold, listing MD, TVD, and Subsea.
Interpretive Lithology follows the character of
gamma curves, providing an accurate
representation of strata.
Sample lithology is delivered in a blocked format
Descriptions are concise, yet insightful.
Red Text Operational Updates are detailed and
helpful when reviewing a well in it’s totality.
Gas curves are scaled for easy reading and
directional data is recorded for every kept survey.
8. It is our responsibility to ensure that company
men, rig crews and directional teams are aware
of upcoming geology events and can plan for
them accordingly.
Blackstone presents expected geology events
during safety meetings and on a continuous
basis during drilling ops.
Preventing a single trip significantly offsets the
cost of our services.
On the log presented, the bit failed and a trip
was unavoidable. On trip events we record
detailed information about the trip; Rig activity,
BHA, Trip Gas, Mud Cut, Flare and any losses or
gains during the trip.
While using this log as correlation in the future,
the trip will catch our eye and we will present
the hazard. Aiding in reduction of trips and down
time on subsequent wells.
9. We’ve successfully drilled into and identified the
top of the Bone Spring Lime. Notice how the
interpretive lithology presents a detailed
representation of the section.
You receive an update via your preferred method
(call/text/email/IM). Can include formation top
information, delta vs prog, ROP, drilling issues, gas
kicks, and any other pertinent information you
request.
Gas volumes have noticeably increased and we’ve
indicated the high gamma shale shows oil cut,
supported by the presence of heavies in the gas
curve.
Blackstone takes this top and projects down to the
directional team’s current landing target depth. If
we see a significant discrepancy, we bring it to your
attention so that you can modify the drilling plan as
needed.
10. We’ve hit the Wolfcamp!
Notice the Interpretive Lithology presenting an
accurate assessment of the transition from bedded
sands to carbonate and carbonaceous shale.
The sands show signs of hydrocarbon loading, as
indicated by the Porosity, Florescence, Cut Strength
and Show Grading spheres in the upper central
section of the log.
Flare height and duration is noted in red, allowing
quick comparison to offset wells.
Gas is very active, with significant spikes labeled to
identify their origin.
U.S.G – Units Survey Gas
U.C.G – Units Connection Gas
U.O.B.G. – Units Off Bottom Gas
11. Let’s take a quick look at the lateral log layout.
Essentially, it’s the vertical log layout, flipped on it’s side with a large
lithology track in the center.
Gamma/ROP/Tops/Mechanical Data/Mud Data are in the uppermost
track.
Centered in the Horizontal Log is the customizable lithology track, with
corresponding TVD, Subsea and MD of the represented section. The well
bore is represented by the Red Line and is derived from entering survey
data. Scale adjustment allows us a “big picture” view during curve ops,
while allowing us to zoom in once landed to focus on fine details of the
target.
Each layer of the lithology track is hand drawn, allowing us to interpret
lithology based on gamma and cuttings, providing an accurate
representation of the section. This aids in our correlations and target
tracking.
Below the lithology track are descriptions, caught samples, survey data,
and gas readings.
12. Here you’ll see the correlation between
gamma readings and how we’ve drawn
layers to match, providing clarity, accuracy,
and the ability to assist in directional
operations.
Green lines (for the purposes of this
document) highlight gamma signatures
and the corresponding lithology change.
As we enter the target laterally, we have a
full target gamma signature to utilize in
correlation.
13. We’ve cut the target and now have a gamma
profile we can use for correlation as we
progress.
We now know that upon landing this target’s
apparent thickness is 9.6 ft, Center of target is
42 counts API, with top and bottom of target
reading ~50 counts.
We would note that the shale above the target
reads low 80’s and shale below the target
reads 90+ counts.
All of this information would be recorded on a
white board in the logging office and then
passed along to the operations geologist,
directional assets and company men.
Pason alarms will be set at 52 counts.
14. Smooth sailing.
A slight increase in gamma counts let
us know our slight up-dip may be
coming to an end, so we confer with
directional and flatten inclination.
We cruise along and see gamma
return to center of target readings.
You get an update that everything is
running great and trends are holding.
15. Shortly after a trip, we encounter a fairly
steep up-dip. 60 counts indicate that we
were already low in the target.
As soon as gamma broke over 70 counts we
alerted the operations geologist and
directional team.
We’ve compared our gamma data and
determined we are in the shale below target.
After verifying our correlation with the ops
geo and geosteer, we visit with the
directional team to discuss exactly where we
are, how much ground needs to be made up
and any lithology related challenges they
may face as they correct course.
Mirrored gamma eventually confirms our
findings and we are back in target 200 ft
later with minimal dogleg.
16. We’ve reached TD!
Upon TD you receive an update on the change in
the rig’s status.
You’ll notice our detailed rig activity report in red
text listing cement volume data, gas data for
every circulating cycle and bit projection survey
data.
A concise “After Action Report” is provided that
provides a quick reference of trips, geo hazards,
the depth and intensity of significant gas events,
drilling fluid loss information, fault crossing
depths, etc.
When drilling near this location in the future, we
print and distribute this AAR so that everyone is
aware of past hazards and actively planning to
mitigate or prepare for them.
