This Award (Created in 1998) for Women in Science
aims to improve the position of women in science by
recognizing outstanding women researchers who have
contributed to scientific progress.
The awards are a result of a partnership between the
French cosmetics company and one of the UN
organization, carrying a grant of $100,000 USD for
eminent women scientists from 5 regions of the world.
The partnership also giving The Rising Talent Grants for
15 researchers in different regions. Name the award

She was born in Travancore on 1918. She preferred
Physics over Medicine. She had a opportunity to work
with meteorological equipment at the Imperial
College of London, under government scholarship.
She standardized the designs for around 100
weather-related instruments, including rain gauges
and barometers and started a company that made
instruments for solar radiation and wind speed.
Her motto was, “Wrong measurements are worse
than no measurements at all.”
She is known as "Weather women of India". Who is

following year to help standardize the navy’s computer
languages. At the age of 79, she was the oldest officer
on active U.S. naval duty when she retired again in 1986.
19. 9. First scientist to do ___?
Flossie Wong-Staal, a molecular virologist, died in July 8, 2020 .
Her research in this field is now being deployed in the fight against
Covid 19.
Until the late ’70s, the idea of this particular work was
controversial and scientists were dismissively referred the issue to
as “human rumor viruses". And in '80s the presence of this viruses
is proven and she provided molecular evidence needed as proof,
which was a necessary step towards developing eventual
treatments.
She was also included in The Book of Gutsy Women: Favorite
Stories of Courage and Resilience, by Hillary Rodham Clinton and
Chelsea Clinton.
Wong-Staal was one of 20 women honored in the #20for2020

X is honored with the name of a new genus of ferns found in
Central and South America, Mexico, Arizona and Texas. A
genus is a group of closely related species.
Members of the new genus also bear a distinct DNA
sequence spelling resembles the name of artist herself.
X germanotta and X monstraparva are new to the genus.
In 2010 Grammy Awards, X wore a heart-shaped Armani
Prive' costume with giant shoulders that looked(for
scientists) exactly like the bisexual reproductive stage of the
ferns, called a gametophyte. It was even the right shade of
light green.
Celebrity species abound in science. But those are just
individual species. This is an entire genus that so far
includes 19 species of ferns.

Stephanie Kwolek was an organic chemist, best known for
inventing X in 1965. X is an immensely strong plastic,
discovered as a replacement for steel reinforcing strips in
racing car tires.
Today, X is used in a great number of different ways, including
armor, gloves, tires, yacht sails, shoes, ropes, and tennis
racquet strings and large variety of protective clothing
applications, which have saved the lives of countless police
officers and other people.
In precise chemical terms, 1,4-phenylene-diamine reacts with
terephthaloyl chloride in a condensation polymerization
producing X and eliminating hydrogen chloride. weight-for-
weight the polymer she had made was five times stronger
than steel.
