Exoplanets are planets outside the Solar System that usually
orbit a star. Initially, exoplanets were discovered using a method
called wobble method where astronomers look for the Doppler
shift of the light emitted by the host star of the planet. However,
recently an increasingly popular method for finding
exoplanets was discovered. This method includes measuring
the amount of light emitted by the host star. When a planet
passes in front of the star, it blocks some amount of light and
the dimness can be measured which might indicate the
existence of a planet. This method is responsible for finding
majority of the 4000+ exoplanets discovered so far. Name this
method.
