Human dignity refers to the intrinsic worth of human beings simply due to their humanity. Human rights belong equally to all people regardless of attributes and are basic entitlements. There are different types of rights people have in democratic societies, including natural rights inherent to being human like the right to life; constitutional rights guaranteed by a country's charter; statutory rights provided by laws; civil rights specified in bills of rights like freedom of speech; economic rights to property; and political rights of members of a political community like the right to vote.
