Using the diagram, invent a formula to
find percentage. You are given 1 minute to
create your formula.
Afterwards, another 1 minute will be given
to each group to explain their work.
C. Developing and
Deepening
Understanding
1. Lesson
A percentage is a number or ratio that
can be expressed as a fraction of 100.
Percentage means, a part per
hundred
To find Percentage we used the
formula: P = B x R
2. Work Example
Let us have an example:
A. What is 50% of 100?
Given:
Base – 100
Rate – 0.5
Percentage - ?
Solution:
P = B x R
P = 100 x 0.5
P = 50
B. What is 30% of 80?
Given:
Base: 80
Rate: 0.3
Percentage - ?
Solution:
P = B x R
P = 80 x 0.3
P = 24
C. What is 5% of 20?
Given:
Base: 20
Rate: 0.05
Percentage - ?
Solution:
P = B x R
P = 20 x 0.05
P = 1
3. Lesson Practice
Idea Exploration
Instructions:
1. Each group will have an envoy and
each envoy will be given a task card.
2. Every two minutes the envoy will
rotate clockwise changing places.
3. Each group will present their work in
front of the class using number

heads.
Task Card 1: What is 15% 0f 60?
Task Card 2: What is 25% of 200?
Task Card 3: What is 36% of 88?
Task Card 4: What is 99% of 23?
D. Making
Generalizations
Say it! Show it! Explain it!
Based on our discussion today, what can
you tell about Finding Percentage?
Instructions:
Say it: Give an example of a situation
about finding percentage.
Show it: Illustrate how to get the answer.
Explain it: Discuss how did you get the
answer.
