2. MOTION
An object has moved if
it has changed its
position in relation to
a reference point. The
movement of an
object from one place
to another is called
motion.
3. FORCE
Force makes things move.
You know that an object is
in motion when its position
from its starting or
reference point is changing
or has changed. An object
requires a certain force to
set it in motion.
5. APPLIED FORCES
Force transfers energy to an
object. The push and pull you
exert on an object which makes
it move is called force.
A push is a force applied in a
direction away from your body.
A pull is a force applied in a
direction toward your body. The
unit of force is called Newton.
It is represented by the symbol
N.
6. THE FORCE OF RUNNING
WATER AND BLOWING
WIND
Running water exerts great
force that can move things
on its surface like logs and
leaves.
Wind is the force that
makes kites fly. It also
makes the branches and
leaves of trees and plants
sway.
7. GRAVITATIONAL
FORCE
Gravity is a force of
attraction between two
objects. All objects with mass
have gravity. Gravity acts like
a magnet pulling objects
together.
Earth has gravity. Gravity
holds everything close to this
planet. This is the reason why
everything that is thrown
upward eventually goes
down.
