Some definitions: Equator Divides the globe into two hemispheres: Northern hemisphere Southern hemisphere Is set as the zero latitude Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn 23.5º Prime meridian Passes through Greenwich, England is set as zero degree longitude
Asia Land cover: from Arctic down to equator Exact location: More or less 10º south to 95º north latitude 11º to 175º east longitude Vast expanse = 164º longitude and 85º latitude Largest continent in the world 1/3 of the total land surface of the globe Home to almost 2/3s of the entire world population
2 major mountain belts that meet in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Plains: ¼ total land area of Asia Bodies of water: Pacific Ocean, Arctic Ocean, Indian Ocean, Caspian Sea, Black Sea, etc. Asian boundaries are marked by major water forms Asia
Boundary of Asia Ural Mountains  Kara Sea  Bering Strait  Pacific Ocean  Timor Sea  Indian Ocean  Arabian Sea  Red Sea  Mediteranean Sea  Asia Minor near Aegean Sea  Caucasus Mountains  Caspian Sea  Ural river  Ural mountains Asia
The Regions of Asia Can be classified as geographical and cultural zones Divided into five regions: North East West South Southeast
