Les Verbes –ER
Français 1 NCVPS
-ER VERBS
Anytime you see the ER at the end of
  a verb, the verb will be translated
             as “to____”

Nager = To swim
Travailler = To work
Voyager = To travel
So…
If you say “j’aime nager”…
     … that means “I love to swim”

But, if you say "je nager”…
               …that means "I to swim"
which doesn't really make sense! :)
Using Verbs Correctly
  You have to conjugate the verbs
(conjugate = change the endings of the
     verbs so that it makes sense)

 We do this in English all the time!
    (example: I swim, he swims)
Conjugation!
       In French, to make the verb make sense,
            we have to change the endings:
Je nage = I swim/I am swimming
(the verb should end with an e)

Tu nages = You swim/You are swimming
(the verb should end with an es)

Il nage / Elle nage = He/She swims, He/she is swimming
(the verb should end with an e)
** This rule is true for all verbs
we have seen so far that end with ER**
A few more examples…
               aimer = to love
     J'aime, Tu aimes, Il aime, Elle aime

             danser = to dance
  Je danse, Tu danses, Il danse, Elle danse

Let me know if you have questions...
this is a REALLY important lesson!
