EMC Lifeline 4.0

Lifeline 4.0 HIGHLIGHTS
Integrated Virtualization Extensions (IVX)
Run multiple, virtual host operating systems on your px12
storage device. Virtual machines can run Linux or Windows,
and have their own private, dedicated hardware such as
network interfaces, hard drives, and memory. Use IVX to
run storage through LenovoEMC LifeLine, while
simultaneously operating Windows® Server for lightweight
services or Linux Apache web server. Run up-to four
concurrent virtual machines. Operates on px12 system only.
Requires Operating System licenses for Virtual Machines.

Snapshots
Protect data by creating a point-in-time replica of a complete
NAS (file) or iSCSI (block) storage volume. A snapshot
makes a copy of the data directly on the NAS, and allows for
easy file or folder restore.
Windows Shadow Copy Services (.VSS) provider driver
exists in the LenovoEMC System Manager, and allows
Microsoft® Windows™ Server and applications such as
SQL™ and Exchange™ to make direct snapshots to the
LenovoEMC NAS
SSD Caching (Cache Pools)
Utilize ultra fast Solid-State Drives (SSD) for fast data reads
and writes to-and-from storage. System automatically learns
which data is frequently accessed, and places files and/or
data blocks in the SSD cache to speed data read access
from SSDs or data writes to traditional Hard Drive array.
Recommended for px6 and px12 systems .
True Image Lite 2013 by Acronis
LenovoEMC has partnered with Acronis to provide True
Image 2013 Lite PC backup software with select
LenovoEMC NAS products. Acronis’ True Image 2013
provides automatic and continuous file backup protection
and restore for Windows PCs. LenovoEMC px Series
products will include 3 licenses for ATI Lite, select ix Series
will include a single license, and Acronis has made available
special pricing for additional licenses and upgrades for
LenovoEMC customers.

Lifeline 4.0 HIGHLIGHTS

Avamar (for px only) – dedupe backup Avamar is backup and
recovery server software that uses deduplication to eliminate
redundant copies of data, reducing the required storage for
backups. An Avamar server is required as the backup destination
from the px device. Avamar identifies redundant data on your
Lenovo network storage device and minimizes the data being
backed up before it is sent over your network. With Avamar, you
can enable fast, secure backups for your Lenovo network storage
device and reduce backup time, network traffic, and the amount of
secondary storage
