This document provides an agenda and background materials for a workshop on learning theory for a postgraduate certificate in teaching in higher education. [1] The workshop will explore different learning theory models and perspectives on knowledge construction. [2] Attendees are asked to come prepared to discuss their views on what constitutes good teaching in higher education and to have reviewed various references on learning theory, including chapters from two books and several online sources. [3] The agenda indicates the workshop will include discussions of base group position papers, the history of ideas related to institutions and hidden curricula, critical theory, academic identity, and learning theory models.
