Learning theory examines how people learn. Early experiences have a greater impact than later ones, and a positive upbringing tends to produce a positive individual while a negative upbringing often results in negative outcomes. Bandura believed learning was more complex than just stimulus-response and conducted an experiment showing children imitating aggressive or kind acts on a doll. His famous "Clever Hans" experiment appeared to show a horse learning through the same methods as children, but was later debunked as relying on unconscious cues from the trainer instead of true understanding. Learning theory is applied in schools by starting with basics and building over time, while elders are expected to set a good example, but critics argue that psychologists oversimplify the complexity of learning
