Share how they usually travel. Discuss advantages and disadvantages of different transport.
Read about ways to travel around. Design a road sign.
Participate as knowledgeable and reflective in recitation.

Learning Plan: Listening, Staying Safe on the road, Zero conditional

  • 1. Class: Grade 4 Date: Feb. 12 – Feb. 16, 2017 LB Page 68-73 AB Page: 54-59 Period: Duration: 40 mins/day Objectives: At the lessons students should be able to… Compose sentences using the vocabulary words. Understand the meaning of each word based on the picture shown. Listen for meaning and specific information. Write the correct spelling of each vocabulary words. Read an article about staying safe on the road. Familiarize with different road signs Share how they usually travel. Discuss advantages and disadvantages of different transport. Read about ways to travel around. Design a road sign. Participate as knowledgeable and reflective in recitation. Anticipated Problem: Unwanted misbehavior in the class Difficulty in understanding the text Difficulty in writing Possible Solutions: Proper classroom management Explain and simplify it for better understanding Give more time to students Aids/Materials Board, board markers, notebook, Language book, practice book, weekly plan with spelling words, computer and overhead projector, speaker, worksheets. New Vocabulary: main road – safe behaviour - lorries – reflective armbands – reverse into – pedestrian crossing – spacecraft – astronauts – crash – fame Stage Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity Timings Checking Questions. Etc. Day 1 Orientation Orientation
  • 2. Day 2 Warm up Presentation Discussion Application/ Assessment Unlock the difficulties. Discuss the meaning of each word and show pictures related to the vocabulary words and give example sentences. Present the pictures and meaning of each word. Play the cd and give some time for learners to listen to the audio. Give class activity Listening attentively in the discussion. Identifying different type of road signs. Composing sentence/s using the vocabulary words. Track 23: Listening to the conversations in the tourist office. Track 24: National Museum Answering the L B page 70: Missing words. 10 mins 10 mins 10 mins 10 mins Which places do you go to? Which type of transport do you use? Can you think of safer ways for the children to get to school? What keeps you safe travelling by bike, motorcycle, car, etc.? Where are the speakers? Which methods of transport do they mention? Have you experience to go to a museum? Have you been in a tour before? How was your experience?
  • 3. Day 3 Warm up Presentation Discussion Application / Assessment Show to learners the photos of children travelling to school and discuss what they can see. Give learners time to read as they need to find out more information. Describe the good and bad points about following road signs. Show a video: Staying safe on the road Give class activity Participating in the class discussion Finding out more ways of travelling to school. Reading the article: Staying safe on the road. (L B page 68) Discussing advantages and disadvantages of different road signs. Completing the table on L B page 68 5 mins 10 mins 10 mins 15 mins How does she get to school? What other way could she get to school? Can you think of safer ways for the children to get to school? How can we stay safe when we are not at home? Are there any places you feel unsafe or parts of the route you could change to make your journey safe? What is the band worn around a person’s upper arm to hold up a shirtsleeve or as a symbol? When do you use the seatbelt? Why is it important? Why do you need to use a pedestrian crossing? What keeps you safe?
  • 4. Day 4 Warm up Presentation Discussion Application/ Assessment Day 5 Warm up Presentation Give example sentences on the board. Encourage learners to identify the different meaning of the sentences. Discuss the language detective: Zero conditional Present a video: Zero conditional in the sentence Give class activity: Worksheet: Grammar Review the spelling and meaning of vocabulary words Making comparisons about the different use of If and When in the sentence. Analyzing the example sentences. Listening to the discussion attentively Analyzing the proper use of zero conditional in the sentence. Answering the worksheet: Use of zero conditional 5 mins 10 mins 15 mins 10mins. 5 mins. 10 mins What can you notice on the sentences? Is it correct that the tense in both parts of the sentence is in the simple present? Can you replace if and when to express general truths?
  • 5.
