Seems elementary, but only 54% of employees report that their leaders knows what they do. 02 Articulate why your employees work has meaning Why is the work each person has important? How does it make a difference and further your organizations purpose? 03 Show how your work affects the customer Most employees dont come to work to help your company make money. They invest effort to make a difference in the world 04 Create shared plans and goals with your team and connect them all back to your organizations purpose Be transparent with your team about how they collectively can work together to achieve the companies purpose

Talk often to them about their goals, show appreciation for their skills, and trust them to make decisions RECOGNIZE YOUR PEOPLE Not just when an accomplishment is made, but even for smaller wins - when they put in extra effort, overcome an obstacle, innovates, helps a peer - this all provides extra motivation to succeed. SHARE LEADERSHIP Give employees latitude to lead out on their own. They dont want a micromanager. They want a leader that inspires them - Empower them to take ownership, make decisions, innovate, and lead PROVIDE SPECIFIC, CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK Don't provide feedback at the end, but throughout the entire process. This isn't about micromanaging, but provide feedback and break down barriers for them throughout the entire process

  • 8. ENCOURAGE TEAM COLLABORATION Rather than giving just one person a task, set up an opportunity for multiple people to collaborate on it. SET UP MENTOR OPPORTUNITIES ELIMINATE TERRITORIAL BEHAVIORS Set up connections that people can learn from. Encourage collaboration outside of the team whenever possible.
