Leadership Philosophy:
Adversity
Leadership is a very difficult, complex thing at times. It’s a quality that is required to be
successful in all aspects of life weather it is on an individual basis or a group basis. Individual
leadership to me is most important. For me and millions of others, our individual leadership was
molded through the adversity in our past and present.
The world is a cold place and millions are given adversity to battle on a day to day basis.
For me that was a variety of things rooted from normal college student stress to not having a
father anymore. I could go on for days about issues upon issues I’ve dealt with, however I’ve
fought through and kept my resiliency. Growing up and dealing with the first few dark days, I
was always told that “God gives the toughest fights to his strongest soldiers.” Jesus purposely
placed himself in the wilderness to suffer for forty days and nights before he began to preach the
Gospel. The resilient group of individuals who fight through the struggle and come out on the
other end of the tunnel gain a pure prospective on leadership. Fighting through adversity molds
people mentally into prosperous leaders. Not to brag, but I feel as if I have become stronger in
my faith as well as personal will. High school was tough and college was not much easier, but
when I got to college I began to step out of my comfort zone and got involved with multiple
things of interest. I am completely driven towards my career and setting myself up for the future.
Fighting the good fight has given me the insight to help others and lead them on a personal level
no matter the situation. Those who help themselves are better fit to help lead others in the right
direction. Being strong in the day of adversity is the most important quality of a leader. From
there, one will be shaped to handle anything else life throws their way.
