Spiritual Principles For Leadership
Success
I. Prayer ( Neh 1:1-11, Ex 17:10-13)
• Prayer is basic foundation for spiritual leadership.
II. Vision (Neh 2:11-14, Jer 1:11-12, Pr 29:18)
• Vision is a map for the destination (an informed bridge
from the present to a better future)
• Wrong map will take to wrong destination.
• Vision is seeing the future ,in the present, built the past”
• Vision is seeing the invisible and making it visible
• All good leaders are driven by Vision
Continue……
• Seek a divine Diagnosis : What is the issue to be
resolved V.37
• Pray to determine what action could meet that need. V.38
• Choose a team and empower them for Partnership
• Take immediate action toward the fulfillment of the
Vision. V 10:5
III. Plan (Neh 2:1-20, Luke 14:28-32)
• Plan is a back bone to our leadership. Our God is a God
of plan and Order
Spiritual Principles For leadership

Spiritual Principles For leadership
Success
• A success in leadership doesn’t come simply
because we have plan and we are working hard.
• We need to have:
• Strong Fellowship with God ( Neh 8:18, 2Chr
20:17-23)
• Life of Obedience (Neh 8 : 3-6
• Sacrificial Love
Spritual …
• Spiritual leaders are to be servants,
submissive to those in authority, to one
another, and to those in need; they must
be willing to lay aside pride and prestige,
and with genuine humility serve others
rather than seek to be served; they must
be forgiving and giving and passionate;
people should be able to look to them for
guidance in loving service
4. How to Lead I
A. Definition: Leading is causing people to
take effective Action.
• You are not a leader by virtue of your
position.
• You are a leader by virtue of your
performance
B. A leader is one who does two things.
First, he knows where he is going.
Second, he is able to pursue others to go
along with him.
How to lead
• That is, a leader is a person deeply
infected with a concept, an idea, a cause.
Second, there is a relational element. A
good leader needs an interest in an idea,
but he also needs an interest in people.
• Two basic questions:
• What is that really drives you?
• Where are your men?
How to lead
• How do you become a man who knows
where he is going?
1. You must develop deep personal
conviction ( read The Bible)
2. Consistent time for meditation, time to
think, to write and reflect
3. You need consistent guidance (Pr 3:5-6,
Rom 14:5)
How to lead
3.1. Develop a personal schedule .Discipline
involves control of self. Discipline in terms
of self control always a purpose.
“ You can’t just pick up somebody else’s
schedule”
3.2. You must subordinate all of your life
under your goal. Set boundaries!
3.3. You need a willingness to make
decisions
How to lead
• You need to embrace a sense of mission
and destiny .
• You must learn to live with tension, the
realization that you never arrived.
• Good is the enemy of best.
5. How to lead II
• Become more infectious. Leadership is
more caught than thought
• Perceive others in terms of their potential.
We tend to see people only what they are,
not in terms of what they can become.
• Master the art of developing people-not
manipulating them
• Become a self-starter.
How to lead II
• Your greatest problem is not motivating
others; it is keeping others from
demotivating you
• Minister to the whole person
6. Character tics of a leader
• 1Tomothy 3:1
• Marks of a mature leader
A. Staying Power ( the key to leadership is endurance)=>
Maturity never resigns
B. Virile (Strong ) private life
You show me a man strong in public, and I show you a man
strong in private.
C. Self-mastery
• A leader has control on every area of his life-his time, money,
lust, discouragement… etc
• Every area of your life must be under the sovereign control
of the Holy Sprit
Marks…
• Time is our greatest commodity ; therefore
wasting time is the greatest prodigality.
D. Model
• No other form of teaching is effective
E. Resistance
• Not resistance to idea, but resistance to
opposition.
• Discouragement is leukemia of the Sprit.
• Difficult circumstances are tests of leadership!!
Mark…
F. Servant hood
G. Confidence
• A leader has a high confidence in God
• Leaders without confidence are known after
their control of power
H. Positive attitude
• Of all the "attitudes" we can acquire, surely the
attitude of gratitude is the most important and
by far the most life-changing. Zig-zag
The mark
• "I never expect to lose. Even when I'm the under dog, I still
prepare a victory speech."
H. Jackson Browne
• "There are no menial jobs, only menial attitudes." William
John Bennett
• Sometimes we are limited more by attitude than by
opportunities."Anonymous
• "Take charge of your attitude. Don't let someone else choose
it for you."Anonymous
• "The control center of your life is your
attitude." Anonymous
Mark…
• "A positive attitude may not solve all your
problems, but it will annoy enough people to
make it worth the effort."
Herm Albright
• Happiness is not by chance, but by choice."
Jim Rohm
• "Live with passion." Anthony Robbins
• "A man without a smiling face must not open
a shop."Chinese Proverb
Mark…

is forward looking. Yet he is discerning of
the present he is future-oriented; but he
is presently involved
J. Teachablity
K. Faith
7. Delegation and Team Work
• Definition: Delegation is the on-going
process by which a leader assigns
additional Responsibilities and Authority.
• EX: Moses (Numbers 11:17)
• No one can be good at everything.
• If you think you can do everything you are
either too proud or too selfish. Or you are
unrealistic about yourself!
Delegation
• If you don’t delegate your jobs many times
it will become too big for you.
• You will tend to carry all the burden on
your shoulders alone, when others are
looking for opportunity to share it with you
• Your people will become staid and
dormant in their jobs and will tend not to
feel stretched and challenged
Delegation
• If you do delegate:
• You, personally, will benefit from others
share with you in the burdens of your
responsibility.
• Your people will develop self-confidence
and capability to assume more
responsibilities
• The total amount of work accomplished
will increase
Principles of delegation
• Your ability to motivate the person to
whom you are delegating will in many
ways, determine his success or failure.
• Be aware of the personal development of
your people and delegate the right amount
of new responsibility at the right time.
• Delegation requires a commitment of time
and follow through from you
Principles of delegation
• Be aware of action on your part that tend
to contradict rather than reinforce an initial
delegation
• How to Delegate
