This document provides instructions for making a homemade lava lamp using common household items including a plastic bottle, vegetable oil, water, food coloring, and Alka-Seltzer tablets. Fill most of the bottle with oil, add a tablespoon of water and food coloring, then break Alka-Seltzer tablets into pieces and drop them in to make bubbles rise and fall in imitation of a real lava lamp. Additional tablets can be added later for more reactions.

1. Lava lamp
This is a presentation about making lava lamp using
safe household ingredients

2. To experiment we need:
water
a clear plastic
bottle with
some food coloring
a vegetable oil
alka seltzer tablets
If you don't have any of that tablets, you can
also try using salt or baking soda.

3. The experiment
Fill the bottle most
of the way full with
vegetable oil.

4. Add about
a tablespoon
of water.

5. Drip in a few
drops of food
coloring.

6. Break an alka
seltzer tablet
into pieces
and add
them to the
bottle.

7. After the reaction is complete,
you can break and add
another alka seltzer tablet to
make more bubbles.
Feel free to shine a
flashlight on the
bubbles to add the
'light' part of a
traditional lava lamp.
