On April 2, 2013, Vital Voices held its annual Global
Leadership Awards at The John F. Kennedy Center for the
Performing Arts in Washington, DC. A nonprofit
organization devoted to helping women around the world
achieve their leadership potential, Vital Voices hosts
training and mentoring programs, fights human trafficking,
and increases opportunity for women in government and
business.

Global Leadership Awards
This year, the organization recognized five women and
three men for their outstanding efforts to promote human
rights, democracy, and economic opportunity. Hailing from
Pakistan, India, Somalia, Brazil, Cambodia, and
Palestine, the honorees received such awards as the
Global Trailblazer Award, Leadership in Public Life Award,
