INTRODUCTION Story about Champaner, small village situated at the heart of India, in 1893 Villagers of Champaner were dependant on agriculture Near to this village, there was British Cantonment run by Captain  Russell, near to this cantonment, there was province of the King Rajah Puran Singh British promised Rajahs to protect them from other Rajahs and they were collecting LAGAAN (i.e. Tax) from kings. Villagers of Champaner were paying tax in form of grains to Rajah Puran Singh Rajah Puran Singh was keeping his share and rest of the Lagaan was handed over to Captain Russell
REALISATION OF INJUSTICE British Army troop is marching through the village Everybody is angry about them, but can’t do anything other than cursing them Since 2 yrs No Rain, No Grain Rajah Puran Singh doubled Lagaan due to Cpt. Russell’s demand There is only one person who tried do something i.e. BHUVAN
CLEVER, WISE & SHARP Cpt. Russell announced about cancellation of Lagaan (tax) Everybody gets happy, except BHUVAN No one will give favor to you without his / her interest
