La Tierra Verde is a non-profit organization founded in 2003 in the Canary Islands with the main objectives of raising awareness about social opportunities and using information to promote participation, involvement in social, cultural and environmental issues, and distributing reliable information using media and new technologies. Some of La Tierra Verde's projects include hosting seminars on sustainability in European islands, promoting organic agriculture, hosting a volunteer to create a database of sustainable resources, and a radio program on sustainability in Gran Canaria. The organization also coordinates many youth exchanges to show realities of life in the islands and address environmental and social problems.

3. Sustainable European Islands: 11 countries adults seminar to discuss about the problems on european isolated areas (Action 5, EU “Youth Programme”). Eco Agri Multimedia local initiative: A campaign to promote Organic agriculture on rural isolated areas of Gran Canaria (Action 3, EU “Youth Programme”). EVS: During 2007-2007 we will host 1 lithuanian volunteer to create a database of european sustainable resources for youth (Action 2, EU “Youth Programme”). Onda Verde: A weekly radio programme to talk about the social and environmental sustainability of Gran Canaria and specially Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Sustainable cities, citizens participation and less marginality Project General aim: An informed social structure with capability to get organized and opine in every administrative and political decission where these affects the environment, the economy and the social structure of our society, giving options to people with less opportunities and incorporating them to real sustainable public processes.
