The UK economy system The UK economic system is made of  three parts. The public sector - government The private sector - business The third sector - charity
Public sector The public sector (or the state) is funded by society.  Individuals pay money (taxes) to the government to  make sure that there are services for citizens to  use. Services such as hospitals (health care),  police, schools (education), the army the fire  brigade etc.
Private sector The private sector is made up of businesses that  are trying to make profit, and are  not  controlled  by the state. Companies such Tesco, McDonald’s,  Sainsbury’s, Nike, Microsoft etc.
Third sector The third sector is made up of private companies  that are non-profit organisations. Any profit made  by third sector companies is used to help people  who need it in society. Charities such as Scope, The  Red Cross, Oxfam etc.
