This document discusses a Keyword Out of Context (KWOC) index, where keywords are extracted from titles and displayed as headings without being repeated from the title. In a KWOC index, keywords at the left margin serve as access points to entries, and an asterisk or symbol replaces the keyword in titles. The example shows a KWOC index where keywords are listed with page numbers and an asterisk replaces the keyword in the title entry.

• Is also rotated index but the keywords that
become the access points are set off on the left
hand margin of the page or sometimes using
them as though they were subject headings.
• A keyword used as an entry point in a KWOC
index is not usually repeated in the title but is
replaced by an asterisk (*) or some symbols.
