1) Edible bird's nests are produced by two species of swiftlets that build nests in caves or purpose-built houses, and they have high food value. 2) Malaysia is a major producer and exporter of edible bird's nests, as it is located in the center of producing countries in Southeast Asia and has the largest bird's nest processing industry worldwide. 3) There are different types of edible bird's nests based on the swiftlet species and whether they are found in natural caves or man-made houses.
