In November 1938, Nazi gangs led by Hitler roamed through Jewish neighborhoods in Germany, breaking windows of Jewish businesses and homes, burning synagogues, looting, and arresting 26,000 Jews who were sent to concentration camps. Known as Kristallnacht or the "Night of Broken Glass", this event marked a turning point where violence against Jews escalated, foreshadowing the Holocaust to come, as 101 synagogues were destroyed and 7,500 Jewish businesses were ransacked.
