Korinthos was an ancient Greek city located on the Isthmus of Corinth, which connects the Peloponnese peninsula to mainland Greece. It was a wealthy and powerful city-state that dominated trade and maritime commerce in the Mediterranean during the Archaic and Classical periods. Korinthos was also home to the Sanctuary of Poseidon, one of the richest sites in Greece.
