Knights wore different types of armor over time, starting with mail in the 12th century which was made of small metal chains linked together, taking around five years and a lot of money to produce. Plate armor became popular in the 15th century, covering the full body with helmets that sometimes covered the face and sometimes included decorations. Horses also wore armor and knights followed a code of chivalry with many strict laws, such as keeping their word and behaving respectfully toward women.
