Klinefelter's syndrome affects only males with a 47, XXY karyotype, is caused by nondisjunction during meiosis, and results in enlarged breasts, minimal facial/body hair, and wide hips in patients. Turner's syndrome affects only females with a 45, X karyotype, also caused by nondisjunction during meiosis, and symptoms include short stature, edema of the hands/feet, and an abnormal spine curvature. While there is no known cure for either syndrome, symptoms can be managed through hormonal injections, anabolic steroids, or potential future gene therapy.
