• One of the most famous pharaohs in modern times.
• His tomb was discovered in the 1920s by a British expedition.
• The discovery kicked off “Egypt Fever” in the west. Everyone wanted to
own something Egyptian.
• His nickname is “The Boy King” because he died when he was just a
teenager.
• His father tried to drastically change Egyptian religion, but Tutankhamun
went back to the old ways.
• We know his mother was a mummy called “The Younger Lady.” However
we don’t know WHO she was.
4. Early life
• Tutankhamun was not his
name. When he was born, he
was named Tutankhaten.
• We are not certain who his
mother was. His father was
the pharaoh Akhenaten; the
man who started the Aten
heresy.
5. Reign
• He became king upon the death of
his father.
• He was 9 years old.
• Married his sister, Anknesenamun.
• He restored old temples and shrines
and returned the land to the old
religion of Amun Re, Osiris, Isis and
the other gods.
• Started to build relationships with
other countries.

6. Health
• 180cm tall.
• It is known that he needed a stick
to help him walk. Many walking
sticks were found in his tomb.
• He was unable to move his head
because all of the bones in neck
were fused together.
• He suffered form malaria and
from a serious foot injury which
never healed. The bones of his
left foot were slowly dying.
7. Death and Burial
• He was 18 years old.
• He died young after a fall from a
chariot caused him to break his
leg.
• His body was not well
mummified. The mummy is burnt
and the linen wrappings were left
in tatters.
• It is believed that in the rush to
bury him, the officials used the
tomb of his grandmother,
Nefertiti (who lived for several
more years).
