World of Wonders: A Comprehensive Pre-K Curriculum
World of Wonders is an integrated curriculum which builds a
strong foundation for early literacy and provides appropriate
instruction for early learners, including cross-curricular activities,
a focus on social-emotional development, and preparation for
kindergarten and beyond.
It views learning and teaching in a holistic way and reflects
the real world, which is interactive.

unit focuses on a theme. Each theme is covered
within three weeks.

16. Jolly Phonics is a world-leading English literacy method that teaches
children how to read and write using phonics. Phonics is the teaching of
the sounds that letters make, rather than the names of letters that are
taught in the alphabet, because it is the sounds that are useful for
reading and writing, not the names.. It teaches the letter sounds in an
enjoyable, multisensory way, and enables children to use them to read
and write words. Once the first three sounds are learnt, children will be
able to blend.
17. The five basic skills for reading and writing are:
1.Learning the letter sound.
2.Learning letter formation.
3.Blending.
4.Identifing sounds in words.
5. Tricky words.
Letters are not introduced in the alphabetical order:
1. s a t i p n
2. c k e h r m d
3. g o u l f b
4. j z w v y x qu.
18. Connect Plus
Connect Plus is a new and innovative course specially designed for
learning based on life skills and citizenship education .
N.B Digital materials are available on the Egyptian Knowledge Bank.
19. Within the multidisciplinary window, content is
integrated across different disciplines. In one lesson,
students may practice and apply skills in
mathematics, social studies, science and the arts.
20. It enables the children to make a good use of their skills . As it
helps them to concentrate, think, guess and relate things to
each other.
Mathematics
Within the mathematics window, each theme is divided
into chapters that serve to break up the content and skills into
manageable portions.
21. Mathematics
Many mathematical concepts are given this year
introducing math as play. The activities in the program
encourage children to use a variety of materials for
understanding sorting ,patterns, graphing , numbers,
geometry , measurement , time , and problem solving .
22. Generally the activities of practical life revolve around four
areas: Caring for the Self, Caring for the Environment, Grace &
Courtesy and Movement of Objects. Practical Life activities are an
integral part of any Montessori environment.
Practical life activities are so important to develop order,
concentration, coordination, and independence. By developing
those qualities, both the child and the learning environment are
calmer and learning is easier.
