5 Learning Approaches
• Capacity Building workshops: intended to equip the PIU to make go/no go decisions for the six activity
decision points and to deliver content to a broad set of delegates from a variety of GOI partners
• Work shadowing: intended to build capacity for young planners and engineers across key technical
areas of the activity by including them in the technical meetings and discussions held across the project
team and activity tasks
• Learning by doing intended to teach young planners and engineers how to undertake some of the key
tasks through being supervised to deliver these themselves, this includes surveys as well as desk-based
activity tasks
• Involvement of local students and experts: intended to include and inspire the next generation of
young planners and engineers and expose them to professional methods and considerations including
GEDSI, safeguarding and other cross cutting themes
• Arup Research: Intended to access the volume of research undertaken as part of Arup University activity
and thought leadership documents as well as access to fellows and experts at a global level
