  1. I want to begin by saying thank you very much for this opportunity to talk with you all. I look out at the audience and I think about myself 17 years ago. I think a lot about the excitement and trepidation that is intermingled. I think about student teaching and ramen noodles! \n\nI have to say, that you are my favorite group of people to talk with! You are the foundation of change in our profession!\n\nAdditionally, I have to start by saying that many of my former teachers are probably flabbergasted right now! I would love to see there face when someone tells them that I am giving keynote addresses at education conferences! \n\nSpeaking of keynote addresses, whenever I attend education conferences, I often feel like I am on this old game show! Have you seen this?\n
  2. \nYou just don&amp;#x2019;t know what the keynote speaker or the rest of the presenters are going to give you. Is it going to be a whammy?\n
  3. Well, I love to tell stories. My wife will be the first to tell you that I share way too much. I am sure she is right!. Here is our setup for the story. \n

  14. Currently, I am the Director of Technology for Downers Grove District #58. I have been in this job all of two days!\n
  15. I am the former &amp;#x201C;Technology Coordinator / Facilitator&amp;#x201D; of Kenilworth District #38. \nWe had 97% meeting or exceeding state standards. \nWe have kids blogging from 3rd to 8th grade.\nWe have student email, Google accounts for all 3rd to 8th grade.\nWe have been very innovative in so many ways and I am really proud of the work that we did there. \nI am leaving the legacy of a BYOD device program for 8th grade and a 1-1 iPod program for 3rd graders.\n
  16. The newest project I have helped launch is EdReach.us which is an Education Media Network. We want you to go to our network and pick your channel for learning. We want to be the Huffington Post, Twit Network, Tech Learning Magazine, and Tech Facilitators for the World!\n\nWe have seven podcasts with three additional in the works. \nWe have 20 amazing contributors who are some of the best in the field!\n\nOne of our main focuses is &amp;#x201C;New Teachers&amp;#x201D;. Come learn with us ... \n
  17. I founded the I Education Apps Review website with the understanding that this is a site for teachers by teachers. \nWe have almost a 1000 members in the NING and many teacher reviewers!\n
  18. I am the Illinois Conference chair.\n
  19. I helped expand the Students in Technology Conference into two additional sites in Illinois. We have almost 2000 students 3rd through 12 who participate in this conference every year now. \n
  20. Additionally, I am a Google Certified Teacher and an Apple Distinguished Educator. \nWhat do I equate a lot of my success to? I avoided the whammies! \n
