The SNC document focuses on holistic development through a set of major domains
that it considers central to early years development. Early childhood education is a
vital part of a child's development and future success. Some key learning areas in
early childhood include: These are as follows:
Personal Social and Emotional Development
• a process that helps children develop a positive sense of self, form
relationships, and manage their feelings and behavior.
Self-confidence and self-awareness
• Managing feelings and behavior
• Making relationships
Language and Literacy
• The primary function of Competency 1 is to enhance children’s
confidence and ability to communicate with fluency. Teachers can
facilitate peers in Reading, writing, speaking, and listening develop
social skills and confidence.
