devoted to rock/emo music.
• First published on June 6th 1981.
• Published by Bauer media group.

• Target audience is 14-21 year olds interested in rock/emo music.
• The magazine has a circulation of 43,003.
• In the early 2000s it became the best selling British music magazine.
• Was originally owned by United newspapers who sold it to EMAP in
1991, who then sold it to Bauer media group in 2008.
Typical Styles
• Kerrang title is always the largest text on the page and is always at the
top of the page. The text is usually overlapped by one or more things
but is still recognizable.
• The covers tend to always feature a picture of a particular band in the
centre which is the main attraction of the cover page.
• Harsh colour schemes and tones are used to make the magazines
stand out on shop shelves.
• Lots of adverts for what's inside the magazine tend to dominate and
cluster the whole of the cover page. Not much space is dedicated to
empty space.
