Job Narrative:
Designed and programmed a n in-motion rail load-out system for the shipment of taconite
pellets.
The system consisted of a pellet stockpile, a belt conveyor, a large surge bin, and two
weigh bins.
The system existed prior to my efforts, but no one knew how it worked. Documentation
was virtually non-existent, requiring me to spend time watching the system run and exploring an
Allen-Bradley PLC program for clues. In addition there were no fewer than three different
partial sets of drawings covering twenty-five plus years of poor engineering efforts.
Development of new applications to improve plant operational efficiencies. In addition, I’m
involved in ongoing support of existing systems to maintain the plant’s operability.

Mining, Modicon Quantum PLC. iFix HMI software, TPP/IP networking communications,
legacy systems from Square D, and old style relay circuits.

Instrument placement, conduit and cable tray routing, and preparing cable schedules for a

I programmed Allen Bradley PLCs to accomplish simulated machine operation for
training purposes.
Updated a refrigeration system program for a new PLC.
Helped Phelps Dodge restart a copper concentrator that had been shut down for a number
of years. This involved confirming the original PLC programs were still functional,
placing the MOD BUS Plus network back into operation.
