come to Kanyakumari and see how the faith of thousands
in Swami Vivekananda's message has made possible this
memorial. May it inspire all who visit it and give them the
courage to live up to Swamiji's great and timeless teachings.

14. Mananeeya Eknathji’s thoughts on 2nd phase
• Letter to Indian Oxygen Ltd, Kolkata
…1965
• Letter to Smt Indira Gandhi ….1967
• After consulting very important
people of the country, on 7th January
1972 – Swami Vivekananda’s 108th
Jayanti as per Tithi - with the rising
sun, Vivekananda Kendra came into
existence.
14
15. And then, consulting very important people in the
country, launched the mighty thought movement of
Vivekananda Kendra on 7 Jan 1972 by raising Om
designed saffron flag at the time of sunrise. He
announced…
25.05.1971 Adopts the Name “Vivekananda Kendra” for the service mission.
07.01.1972 Vivekananda Kendra came into being. Flag
hoisting on the Rock at Sun rise and lowering at
Sun set started. A Spiritually Oriented Service
Mission to take Swami Vivekananda’s message
of ‘Man Making Nation Building’ with ‘Serve
Man Serve God’
15
16. The remedy for the ills of our country, therefore, lies in launching a
mighty movement of right thought sweeping the entire country.
It has to be a two-pronged move. On the one hand, it is to be aimed
at
(1) transforming our people’s inherent God-wardness into the right
spiritual urge rising out of the teachings of the Upanishads,
namely,
(a) each soul is potentially divine, and (b) faith in God, in turn
means faith in one’s self, i.e. in one’s potentiality to rise to
divine heights.
On the other hand, it is
(2) to convert the spiritual fervour thus released into works of
national reconstruction” The Seed of this Movement Sown.
