Picante is an R package that provides tools for integrating phylogenetic and ecological data. It allows users to calculate phylogenetic diversity metrics, detect phylogenetic signal, and perform other analyses. The package leverages existing R functionality and contains methods implemented in C for improved performance. Picante provides an open source, collaborative environment for phylogenetic and community ecology studies.

Genetic mapping of behaviour and gene expression in the chicken
This document discusses genetic mapping of behavior and gene expression in chickens. Smaller male forked fungus beetles visit more fungus brackets than larger males, suggesting that body size influences site fidelity. The researchers studied a population of B. cornutus beetles, recording behaviors like courtship and guards between males and females on fungus brackets. They found that elytra (wing case) length had a significant effect on the number of brackets visited, with this relationship differing for males and females. Specifically, smaller males visited more brackets than larger males. However, neither the number of brackets visited nor elytra length predicted the number of courtships or guards a male obtained. So while body size influences how males allocate time between brackets, it did not directly influence mating success.

2) The Southern Consortium for Small Ruminant Parasite Control was established in 2003 to address growing anthelmintic resistance and develop sustainable parasite control methods through research and outreach.
3) Since 2003, the Consortium has received over $3.5 million in grant funding to support research on documenting resistance, validating control methods like FAMACHA, and educating producers through workshops, reaching over 29,000 producers in 40+ states and other countries.

PEN: How global-comparative data challenges conventional wisdom
The PEN (Poverty-Environment Network) project is a large, comprehensive analysis of the linkages between poverty and the environment across 24 countries in the tropics. It involved detailed data collection through nearly 40 studies across over 8,000 households. The data challenges some conventional understandings by finding that rural smallholders derive a significant portion of their income, around 27.5%, from forests and the environment. This highlights the continued importance of extractive incomes from natural resources for rural livelihoods. Further analyses of the PEN data aim to provide insights to help improve measurement of these environmental incomes.

GENETIC DIVERGENCE AND STUDIES ON BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS IN CHICKPEA

This presentation provides a description of the IPM project in Alabama that is based on technology convergence in the digital age. This presentation also discusses some of the major findings of the two-year insect survey project that demonstrated that sustainable agricultural practices in the long run can reduce insect outbreaks and need for corrective action. zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.
