Analyze Learners. I will be teaching holiday traditions to a fourth grade class. There are 20
students 11 girls and 9 boys. There are 2 Muslims, 3 Jewish and 2 African Americans.
State Objectives. My fourth grade students will choose one holiday and in a poster using
glogster explain the traditions from two or more cultures one of which can be their own. They
will give their presentation after looking at a few holidays that are commonly shared but have
different traditions in a power point, watching a video on holiday traditions, and using the twitter
account specifically made for the class and will tweet their classmates about how they spend
their holiday, by the end of the week with 70% of accuracy.
Select Methods, Media, and Materials. Included in my lessons will be a PowerPoint with
pictures and explanations on different holiday traditions, a video from YouTube explaining the
holiday traditions even further, twitter for students to communicate with one another, and
computer to access glogster for making a poster.
Utilize Media and Materials. I will use PowerPoint and YouTube for explanation on different
holiday traditions, twitter so that the students can tweet about their own holiday traditions and
share with their classmates, and glogster, an online poster making website, to create a poster on
two different holiday traditions and present to the class.
Require Learner Participation. Each student is required to participate on twitter by tweeting a
holiday tradition in their family and creating a poster to present to the class.
Evaluate and Revise. By creating a poster on glogster of two different holiday traditions, they
will be assessed with questions from myself and the class. The final product plus presentation
will be graded.
