1. K
aty Dix Brahler has enjoyed
a long career with many
accoladesalongtheway.(This
multi million-dollar producer
is a distinguished member of
the President’s Club and Executive Club of
Re/Max.)
But she says the most humbling honor
came recently when she was nominated
to become the Woman of the Year for the
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).
“Along with the support of my family
and friends, I’ve always been involved
with philanthropy,” she says. “And this call
takes our efforts to a new level. I’m thrilled
to get going.”
As a candidate for this award, Katy and
six other nominees raise funds over a 10-
week period beginning on Wednesday,
February 25, culminating in a Grand
Celebration on Friday, May 8, at the
Renaissance Cleveland Hotel.
A Critical Mission
The LLS seeks to cure leukemia,
lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and
myeloma, and improve the quality of life
of patients and their families.
“To date, the LLS has invested $1 billion
in research aimed at helping blood cancer
patients live longer, healthier lives,” says
Katy. “This effort is near and dear to me
because of my brother, Clint Dix, who was
recently diagnosed with lymphoma, as well
as my dear friend, Jody DeMarco Schaffer,
who is currently waiting for a bone marrow
transplant at the Cleveland Clinic.”
As soon as Katy was nominated by
past clients and friends Don and Maleia
Greenberg, she put together the trusted
team of twin sisterAmy Haught and friends
Julie Holowenko and Sue Olson to help her
spearhead the campaign. They came up
with a goal of raising over $50,000 in the
10-week timeframe.
Homegrown Talent
The skills Katy brings to the table as a
Realtor will be well used in this Herculean
task. “In addition to rallying my friends
and associates to help with the cause, I
personally plan to donate $500 from every
commission I make to the LLS,” she says.
This formidable Realtor’s slogan is a
perfect fit with fundraising at this level.
“Katy Can. Katy Will. Katy Did. Call
Katy!”
Though she boasts listings as far away
as Kent and Downtown Cleveland, the Bay
Village resident likes to keep things close
to home, with an abundance of homes for
sale in Bay and Rocky River.
“There is just an unexplainable magic
about these cities,” she says. “From skirting
Lake Erie along Huntington and Wagar
Beaches to the Nature Center, Bay Days and
town parades, people want to be part of these
close-knit communities.”

Re/Max mega realtor Katy Dix Brahler graciously credits much
of her success to a tenacious support team. So naturally when
it comes time to raise funds for a cause, she plans events that
let this tight network of associates and friends roll out their red
carpets. Here’s how you can help to raise money for the LLS.

The Art of Personal Contact
“One of the things that I will always do is
call clients personally,” she says. “I know a
lot of Realtors just shoot an email or text to
communicate, but I don’t work that way. I
like to engage in real dialogues with people
for the most effective results.”
She will work harder for you than many
other Realtors because Re/Max Realtors
operate on a different pay structure, paying
for all the advertising to market a home
upfront themselves.
“This means we are highly motivated to
sell quicker and more efficiently than other
agents,” she says. “We will not take on a
home unless we are confident we can sell it
for what the seller wants.”
Those Who Hesitate…
“If I had a nickel for everytime I hear
people say they want to wait until spring or
summer to put their houses on the market,”
she smiles. “I’d have a lot of nickels. I have
dozens of pre-approved buyers who are just
waiting for your home to come on the market.
If you wait until later in the spring to put it
on the market, you’ll then be competing with
all the other people who waited, and might
not get the price you were hoping for.”
Historically low interest rates and a
shortage of homes on the market can only
mean one thing: Now is the prime time to sell.

Market Analysis service.
And for busy buyers, Katy does the house
hunting for you. She wakes up each morning
and scours MLS listings and then emails
potential homes that fit your criteria.
